Good moving experience

Ready to go! on Twitpic
Last friday (and the entire weekend), my company moved (its HQ)to a new building. This obviously took a lot of preparation. Since I recently moved to a brand new house (with all the hastle communicating to the construction company and packing and moving our stuff), I was very happy I only had to clean out my desk and let others take care of the actual move.

We were given labels to place on some items and did not have to do anything else.

During the friday (when the moving already started), my team worked at home and with help of OCS, communication with the team members and working continued.

Monday morning was the first day at the new office. Every employee was welcomed by a doorman (especially hired for the occassion), there were (hired) hostesses to welcome you in the building itself and a team was standing to hand some information, business cards and vouchers for the espresso bar that is located in the building. The access badges that were handed out before worked for most people.

Overall a very nice welcome to our new building!

The whole team (actually all employees) were given 'instructions' to walk around the building and getting to know the building. Very nice! For me it was the very first time to enter the building and it looked great!

On the department, there were some startup problems (like some desks did not have power, some no internet, not all servers were available), but in the afternoon, I think everyone was able to get to work.

The Atrium which is supposed to be a place to meet each other, or sit down to work, proved to be exactly that. All over the building, flexible working places are created, from normal desks to lounge chairs to fatboys. Our CEO gave a great example of working flexible by sitting on a (comfortable) chair on 'the bridge'! Way to go! And that example is followed by already a lot of people! The board area's are no longer some kind of 'restricted' area's but open for all employees. This really gives a sense of an open community.

After the second day working, I have to say that I really like our new building and the way it is motivated to incorporate the new way of working! And to all people involved: good job!!
